I know that nowadays, and even before, when people think “3D,” they often think “fad.” While I do of course understand that stance, after obtaining a way of watching 3D movies on a large screen and with surround sound (though the latter may be less of an arguing point), I must say that 3D is a home run, at least for me. I’ve recently bought and watched Avatar, Tron, and [as of tonight] Alita: Battle Angel, and damn, they have all been fantastic watches. Something tells me that of course not every movie is best for 3D, but many of them that have something to do with tech, cyberpunk vibes, or [in the case of Avatar], otherworldly nature, seem to be prime for viewing in an additional dimension.
I’ve got Ghost in the Shell on the way and soon plan to purchase Bladerunner: 2049, both in 3D of course. I expect they’ll also be amazing to watch.
But yeah, while I can understand the gripes here and there about 3D, I just personally don’t get the overall hate (I’m not including those who have conditions where viewing 3D is, for whatever reason, either uncomfortable or simply not a possibility).
Anyway, just wanted to write this up and give my opinion on an often scoffed-at medium which I think is deserving of more praise than hate, at least when the proper setup [for viewing] is implemented.
