So with the new Coming 2 America about to release, can hollywood please just stop the trend of making a sequel to an iconic film decades later but having so much of the plot revolve around the main characterās child? Some examples: Indiana Jones 4, Dumb and Dumber To, Shaft (2019), the new Star Wars trilogy, Blade Runner 2049, Bill and Ted Face the Music, Tron Legacy, A Good Day to Die Hard, Rocky Balboa. Itās like the pitch for these movies was āitās the same character you know and love but this time they have to confront... their child!!ā For some reason some of these have it where the plot is solely based around the character not even realizing they have a child, with Dumb and Dumber To and Coming 2 America being pretty much the same plot, that it just feels like such a lazy way to revive a franchise.
Edit: so many of yāall seem to think I hate the movies I listed. I never said they were bad, I am actually a big fan of a few of them, Iām just pointing out a trend that I noticed
