Are car chase scenes necessary?

Post Body

I can only imagine a big chunk of the budget goes into these scenes. But most of these are always the same thing over and over again. If you asked me to distinguish between the Bourne chase scenes, I wouldn’t be able to. I’ve recently been skipping them when I’m watching home media.
Some car chase scenes are great when it’s not just the actor with a frown in their face, like the chase scene in Man from Uncle. But the rest seem unremarkable.
Does anyone still enjoy these?
