What character that was meant to be portrayed as "cool" by the actor came across as the exact opposite?

I was watching Vampires and James Wood's character is clearly meant to be this badass, but as the movie went on, it was clear James Wood's idea of cool is not that at all. I love John Carpenter but he really missed the mark on this one.
Have you ever cringed at an actor trying to be a cool character?

Interesting take. For me it's always been the inverse. Chris Pratt works (for me) as an actual action hero. Turning him into a bumbling buffoon takes me out of the story, because that trope is so overdone nowadays.
