Trying to find a movie I watched a few years ago - details and memory are sketchy:
Stereotypical "loser" guy - (living in Mom's basement, no job, no friends, no girlfriend) - living in a rundown house, with elderly Mother (possibly - in a wheelchair, disabled, and doesn't speak).
He begins watching a VHS tape of some self help type guru, and becomes obsessed with him and everything he says. Eventually, it seems as if the guru is specifically only speaking to him.
He meets a woman, they go on a date, he invites her to dinner at his house.
My memory is totally off - so I may be wrong - but I think he kills his Mother before she arrives.
Once she does, she realizes that he's insane - and he tries to kill her.
The cast was only the main guy, the guru, the Mother, and the woman - and I don't remember who played any of them.
I thought that Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Elijah Wood played the guru, but nothing matches on their IMDB profiles.
I watched it on Hulu, or one of the free movie apps about 5 years ago.
It was definitely made during the 2000's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

The Voices is fantastic, very quirky, but well done.
