I’m starting a film club and I have some questions about legally screening

Hello and thank you

I’m looking to start a small film club with friends where we plan to watch a movie together and then discuss it.

From what I’m seeing, to show a movie outside of the home setting requires a license. Would it still be considered at my home if it’s at my complexes clubhouse? Not really a public space but also not quite the home so it’s hard to know for sure.

Ideally we’d like to charge an annual membership to cover snacks, projector, etc. I’ve seen that if you don’t charge anything you usually don’t have to worry about the home use viewings, but I feel like an annual membership fee isn’t quite a paid screening of a particular movie but rather for the club. Would I be more protected if this was organized as a usual club with bylaws etc?

Also any just general advice about running a film club for in person viewing and discussion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
