As the title says, this movie is the closest we’ve come to capturing the feel of the original Predator film. I loved Prey (2022) as well, but it had a completely different vibe and I won’t compare these films, since I believe they each have their own strengths.
Predators is just a damn fun, well-made, science-fiction action film. It’s not trying to win any awards, or have a deeper subtext, it’s pure entertainment done right.
The actors are all good in their roles, the music, cinematography and sets are all immersive. This movie knows exactly what it is, and delivers on that premise.
I think with a lot of recent blockbusters, struggling to connect with audiences, this movie is a perfect example of how to make a good sequel to a beloved IP.
The scene when the Predator faces off the Yakuza gangster in the field of long grass. The Yakuza slowly draws a samurai sword and the Predator honors him by letting him prepare for the fight. Such a beautiful scene I think it definitely Imbued the new predator from 2 years ago.
I straight up don't remember this movie, lol. I just vaguely remember it seemed like an old sci-fi channel movie, and a little kid saved the day somehow. Is it worth hating? Maybe, because I think people have the right to expect something closer in quality to the original first two movies. But if you don't have that expectation, then sure, it's a fine movie. I'm not a WoW player, so that's probably why I liked the Warcraft movie.
Predators is basically a rehash of the formula from Predator, Aliens, Deep Blue Sea, Resident Evil etc, so it's not breaking new ground, but there's something about just doing a traditional thing and doing it well, and I think it achieved it, because I enjoyed watching it at the time. As opposed to something like Doom, which was just the Aliens formula again, but not done as well.
