I've literally been thinking about this since I watched it in 2012.

Brief explanation for people that might not remember it: Brandt is wearing a special lens that can photocopy/print what he's looking at. Carter uses a paper with numbers in order to test it. She even makes a point to point out how the numbers are in order.

Then, when try look at the copy, the numbers are scrambled, as she points out.

But...why? What was the point? It doesn't ever come up again, and it's not relevant to the plot or what ends up happening. The way she prefaces it by making him notice how the numbers are in order makes me think it's inte tional, and not just "something went wrong sonnow the numbers are not in order anymore".

Is it a reference to an actual printing thing I don't know, or a reference to something else? Is it something from a scrapped plot point? Hell, is it just a totally random thing that makes no sense? At this point I just hope to get an answer!
