(discussion) Legionnaires and shield-wall formation
Post Body

So,

I don't know if any of you have been encountering this problem but: legionaires (and perhaps other units) don't seem to play well with shield-wall. I've tried a couple battles back to back, one where I keep legionaires in shield wall to engage and one where I set the formation to line.

In the battles where I've been outnumbered I've lost badly with shield-wall, even to low tier units. But set the formation to line and the troops do better.

It seems as if the formation limits the ability of the troops to effectively swing their swords, as they're always interfered with. Anyone else notice this? Does shield wall seem to have this issue for other factions?

Is it a purely defensive formation?
