ACOK joining invading factions?

Is it possible? I was going to try a play through where I trigger the invading faction of House Targaryen and then join their faction and help them take Kings Landing and maybe most of the map (before possibly trying to rebel against them). Is it possible to join them since they are an invading faction? Has it been done before? They wiki says that the faction gets a bunch of fiefs when they spawn in which to me seems like they act as a normal faction. Thanks for any help!
