Hey Guys, Just got into mountain biking a couple of months ago. Have ridden my trek Marlin 5 about 10 times on the trails (a mix of green and blue trails - avoiding parts of the track that are too complex), I’ve never done a jump, and the largest drop I’ve done is probably 20cm. I was riding on a Flat part of the trail, went to make a right turn and nearly got thrown over the bars as my wheel completely bent. The wheel is obviously completely unusable. At the bike store, I was told this was a good beginner bike, but I would outgrow it eventually, but I didn’t expect it to break after what I consider to be beginner level use. Does anyone know why this may have happened? I literally got this bike brand new 6 weeks ago. Are Marlin 5’s really bad, or did I just get unlucky? Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Trek has a solid warranty, you should be fine!
I put my Marlin 6 through some serious abuse back in 2016 and never had a problem.
