So I'm a noob to all things racing but i'm curious as to how much of a skill gap there is from someone who never drives on track to different amateur levels to different pro levels and what separates them technically in their actual driving. If all of these levels from avg guy off street to Lewis Hamilton got given the same car to drive on track of a certain length what would the difference in seconds per lap be? how many seconds is significant pace difference in general.
And finally I'm curious about high level pros (like f1 drivers), are they all pretty much as good as each other in terms of skill and already getting 95 % out of their absolute car limit and just winning via strategy/car set up/levelheadedness... or is their typical lap waaay off their theoretical cars absolute max lap and fellow pros can be waay faster than them?
Sorry about the rambling and the barrage of questions i'm just curious about it all. Any answers appreciated
