Hey Rideit,
So I am looking to buy a bike and saw a 2005 Triumph speed four today.
Here are the highlights after the walk around:
- Has a slight ding on the frame right below the gas tank
- Engine guard: parallel scratches from a low side
- Broken ends in brake and clutch lever
- Whole foot peg assembly needs replacement
- Rusted bolts (not weather proofed i guess)
- Rusted everything (exhaust heads at engine, edges of brake rotors etc)
- Needs new tires (still has stock tires)
- Driven 200 miles in last 2 years - no service at all (no oil/coolant/brake fluid changes, chain lubrication)
- odometer reading - 4100
However the 2010 title says it has 20,000 miles. Is it possible to reset the odometer? The seller says during the previous title registration they didn't have the odometer reading readily available. (I call bullshit)
Asking price is $2400 after negotiation. Probably another 100 bucks if I am persistent. (KBB trade in: 2455, KBB dealer: 3500)
Looks like the bike was neglected for the past two years. My Major concerns are conflicting Odometer reading and the small ding on the frame. What do you guys think?
I am not worried about cosmetics (WD-40 should take care of the rust, tires and regular maintainence has to be done anyways).
Is it worth it?
