New to Motorcycles, I have some questions....
Post Body

Greetings, everyone! I'm new to Rideit and new to motorcycling in general. Obviously, I have a billion questions. Some are more easily answered than others.

  1. I took the MSF class last weekend and passed with a 90%. I thought it was easy enough. My ride in the class was a Kawasaki Eliminator. Probably the 125. My personal ride is going to be a 1985 Yamaha Maxim 700x. I know the engine size is TONS larger than the little bike I rode in the MSF. I suppose what I want to know are the major differences in the bikes. What do I need to keep in mind moving from a cute little ride like the Kawasaki to the bigger bike I've bought from my friend?

  2. My friend has given me her old helmet, since she just got a new one. I also already have a pair of steel toed boots that will suffice for beginning boots. I'm looking at riding gear at the moment. I can easiliy read the descriptions, et al. I know what I kind of want/need. As I live in Seattle, I will require some all weather gear. But, the question I have is twofold. Being a fat chick (size 16/18), there's not a whole lot of choice out there. And, as I'm looking for gear to be multi-purpose (all weather gear that I can use when I'm, say, kayaking as well), I don't know what the hell types of distinguishing factors to take in.

I think those are my two basic questions at the moment. Sorry if it's too long. But, I'm excited to be a member of this subreddit!
