Super touring roads out of N. Virginia (USA) that offer views, fun things to see, folks to talk with?

Post Body

My bike & I now live in N. VA (near Old Town Alexandria). I'm looking for good day trips out of here. Charlottesville-Front Royal-back is the only one I really know about. And I don't know what the prettiest way down there is.

And there are likely things to ride to and see. I know there's some president's house on the 95-orange route to C'ville. But surely there are great places to eat full of motorcycle people, oddball attractions. I miss being able to run over to Deal's Gap for breakfast!!!

Thanks for any suggestions. I'm easily good for 250 miles, and have done 600 mile days, but no time for tourist crap with that schedule.

Oh, I am not adverse to curves, but prefer gentle sweepers and vistas. I may be wrong - my definition of curves is based upon finding the Dragon to be a PITA after the first couple of hundred sorties!
