It was a nice sunny, 45°F day in Chicago a few Saturdays ago. I decided to take my Ninja out and ride around before going to a super bowl party later that evening.
As I'm riding, I realized that I was a little jerky and not shifting as smoothly as I could have. I decided to ride it out to my buddy's instead of garaging it for the day.
I was taking a right hand turn when my sunglasses fogged up and I thought I turned too wide so I steered over to the right and heard a scraping noise.
I managed to get my little Ninja stuck on the curb with the rear wheel hanging out into the road.
After I got myself out from under the bike, I picked it up and took a look at the damage and it looked like just a few scratches. Hopefully they buff out. I had no idea how I was going to lift this bike to get it up off the curb.
After sitting for what seemed like forever, with random people stopping and staring, I gathered myself enough to pop off my helmet and take out my earplugs. Multiple people had stopped but I couldn't hear them. Thankfully a nice guy stopped and helped me lift it and after chatting for a bit, he told me he rode and asked if I wouldn't mind taking his number so we could ride when it got nicer. He also checked out my bike and we both realized my rear brakes need to get changed. That's on my to do list soon.
That was pretty embarrassing but at least I met someone new from it.
