No test ride bike purchase

I'm looking at new bikes, people tell me to just go teat some (in store or from private sellers)... in store is easy , but there's more budget friendly options on FB - but they don't allow test rides.
What's the best way to know if I'll like the bike(s)? Most of the bikes on FB are like 10yrs old so I'm assuming not many dealers have the same ones to test
