A couple beginner rider questions about gear

Hey Iām a new rider who just finished my msf course and Iām getting all the gear before my bike. I bought the alipnestars bionic tech v2 armor because I live in Florida. Would I need jacket over it or it is ok to ride in by itself, I plan on doing street riding mostly.
My second question which may be dumb but is it safe to wear a belt on a motorcycle? Or are there specific one for motorcycles?
