Chinese bikes: Cool or Crap?

I have been looking for a 125cc bike as my dad wants to get me one next year for when im 17, and I've seen lots of cafe racer/ old school style bikes made by the Chinese.
However, I've heard that some Chinese bikes are of kinda shitty build quality, as well as most non euro/jap bikes not being great anyway.
Just want to know, are they good?
