My daughters and I found a Luna moth caterpillar the last week of summer and brought him home. Did some google research when it started changing colors and turned out it was getting ready to make the cocoon. So we named it, Demi, and prepped his cage for transformation. He successfully made his cocoon and we’ve made sure to spritz him lightly everyday since to ensure he doesn’t dry out. He’s not dead, y’all! If you tap him, he starts wiggling or turning or whatever motion he has room to do. Lil’ dude is alive in there but will not come out. I read online one guy had to bury his loosely in some moist soil and that helped? My friend told me to cut him out, but she also advised me to pick up the possum that confronted me in my backyard by it’s tail because “their blood is too cold for diseases” so I will not be doing anything that comes out her mouth. 😂
TL;DR Demi is my moth/cocoon that won’t come out. I don’t want to kill Demi! I want to see him emerge transformed! How can I help him??
