Question if this is normal MIL behavior.
Post Body

Hello,

I (39F) have a helicopter MIL and am dealing with it best I can. This turns out to be minimal contact, which is working for the time being.

However, I’m curious if this is something that is normal or if it’s a control thing. My MIL wants us to come over to her house for Father’s Day to celebrate with her - but I believe that the day should be left up to my partner (32M) decide. My partners parents have been divorced for over a decade and his father passed away 2 years ago. Additionally, his mother is unmarried. Is it common for the MIL to still expect that we spend time at her house?
