Hearing Ashley praise Galavant is just one of those "Oh hey I love that thing too!" moments.
The entire cast is brilliant and it's sad to see the show just missed that big musical push we got in the later 10's.
It's a really good subversion on a lot of classic fantasy stories with enough passion to praise the good things about the genre too. It's a love letter to fairy tales but with that camp charm that comes from upbeat musicals.
The music is also just... amazing.
With the variety of beats and genres you can never predict what it throws at you next, especially in season 2 when they really try to diversify.
Quick shout out to "No One But You" being one of my favourite villainess songs of all time.
Unfortunately the show isn't perfect.
Some episodes are weaker than others and a couple characters do just float about waiting for something to happen a lot of the time.
But in exchange some of the heavier emotional beats and performances do make up for that.
The show was unfortunately canceled after season 2 with plans for multiple more seasons and a very good cliffhanger hanging in the wind.
From recollection most of the actors have stated they want to do more and it would be a total shame for the show not to get another chance in this current media climate.
Musical are big, people want great performances and the show is just fun.
Go watch it.
it's not perfect but the good stuff is very good.
