It seems that the church, from both a leadership and general membership standpoint, has recognized and admitted that our past prophets were not always correct in their teachings and actions. Brigham Young being the prime example. However, how would the church accept it if there was wholesale unacceptance of a current living prophet. If, for example, the church announces in GC that it will allow same sex married couples to remain in full fellowship could we accept that the Nov policy/prophecy was wrong while the living prophet has declared it is God's will? (I'm only using that as an example). It seems to me that the church needs it's living prophet to be infallible, it is only after death that we can disagree with them.
