I wanted to get advice from the community about a debate that my wife and I are having.
My daughter celebrated her 7th birthday with her friends this weekend. We live in a predominantly LDS community so the chances are fairly high that the friends she invited come from an LDS background. My wife informed me that many of her friends that were at the birthday party approached her and asked her which church in our community she went to. I come from a LDS background and my wife does not. We as a family do not go to church so my daughter does not know which church we go to. The debate that I'm having with my wife is whether or not kids asking about which church my daughter goes to is malicious or not. The town I'm from is often referred to as a bubble where there is a majority of LDS families. My wife thinks that it is not a harmless question for a child to ask a friend which church they go to. She feels that it is malicious and exclusionary to our daughter and that the parents had some involvement in the question being asked. What do you guys think? Is it a malicious question or not?
