Genuine question about church leadership and church history and questioning leadership

Post Body
I am a new member and this is a genuine question. I don’t know much about the church history, but it’s stuff I hear from members or so. So I heard some members say they can’t believe some of the rules that the church had back in the 70s (ex. Black men being unable to carry the Priesthood). So my question is 2 parts:
- How did members feel about that then?
- Are there any instances where we should question stances like that one? Or voice concern to the leadership’s rulings?
I truly believe President Nelson is a prophet of god and the the twelve have most knowledge and a strong connection with god, but they’re human at the end of the day
