The main reason i’m asking this is that (humor me here) when i see homophobes justifying their dislike for gay people, they say that disproving of incest relationships is the same as disproving of homosexual relationships. I personally don’t think this is a fair comparison, because incest can obviously lead to birth defects that can quite literally ruin a child’s life (which gay relationships don’t, innately). However if the two people involved are consenting and no sex is involved, what makes it wrong?
Trying to be as open minded as possible, because i’d be a hypocrite if i wasn’t lol
Edit: Seems I was a little vague with my wording. I’m aware that the definition of incest typically involves sex(ual acts), but I don’t think it could be any more obvious that I’m talking about general romantic involvement between two closely related family members, as i’ve seen several times that people disprove of those relationships (and to an extent, this includes me). I don’t find it pleasant to know that two siblings, parent child, first cousins or uncle/aunt nephew/daughter would be in a relationship, and am under the impressions others are like-minded, but there may be a different reason. So I turned around and asked: why is it a problem if they’re not having sex?
Many people in the comments seemed to understand what I’m asking, and what ive gathered is that the implication that there would be a power dynamic that implies abuse, manipulation, or grooming? Which did help because I pretty much only had a natural disgust for any kind of romantic or sexual involvement in this context for no particular reason.

Dude, I'm a little stoned and this just took me down the weirdest Wikipedia rabbit hole and added several books to my Amazon wishlist, so thanks, I guess?
