What would happen if I cauterized a rotted leg onto a stump of a live one?
Post Body

Ok this is so extremely hypothetical but in dnd I got into an argument about it. My party member wanted to cauterize a dead leg onto an npc’s stump. I explained how we should cut a leg off of a living NPC because while not amazing it’s much better than a rotting leg. He tried to say how cauterizing wouldn’t matter because nothing would spread which is entirely not how that works. So in theory what would happen if I cauterized a dead rotted leg onto a stump rather than living one?
