The German episodes are on Netflix US - it's "Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus"
Post Body

"Fliegender Zirkus" is a masterpiece, and a real boon for fans of their work. Some of the sketches are directly imported from the UK show, but most are totally new creations. All are in German, but they have English subtitles because they know even English is a stretch for Americans.

Highlights of the first episode:

A documentary on Albrecht Durer, the Nuremberg artist.
The cows of Bad Ischl present the "Merchant of Venice."
Extensive description of a Frenchman's toilet practices.
"Ich bin ein Holzfäller und fülle Stark" (the Lumberjack Song in German - a non-literal translation).
The most Bavarian Restaurant "Bavarian Restaurant Sketch" Sketch.

If you're a German speaker who knows the original sketches, it adds a new dynamic, but the episodes stand up as classic Python absurdism even with the subtitles. I watched the first episode because of insomnia, and I haven't regretted it. If you ever wanted to roll back time to when you hadn't seen Python before, and experience a "something completely different" for the first time again, this is your chance.

"Ja, er sproch von 'Monty Python' in Bavaria - ja in Bavaria, wo der untertiteln sag nur Sinnlosigkeit!"
