Hello/Salut!
I'm currently mired in the demoralizing experience of hunting for a new place for July 1st (a struggle I'm sure many of you are familiar with). After replying to an apartment listing to inquire about it, I received an email from their leasing agent that has a list of "criteria for renting" and some of it I'm honestly wondering if it's even legal.
On their list of required criteria, they include "If you have a job offer you must provide letter or job contract with your salary and must have 3 month rent in a savings account and provide proof of these funds." This is *on top* of already asking for proof of work in the form of pay-stubs, a signed letter from your employer, or a bank statement.
Is it legal for leasing agents or landlords to require you to show your employment contract, salary information, and bank statements showing that you have 3 month's rent in a savings account?
