Nerdy Con
Post Body

With River Region Comic Con and all the iterations of Gump City Con both dead, there isn't a nerdy con in MGM now. As a guy who does a ton of work in that space in other states, and seeing what has gone right and wrong at a ton of other cons, I think I could organize a really good fan based con on a slightly smaller scale, and hopefully grow it over time.

The hang up is a good, affordable space in which to host an event like that, so that's why I am here, looking for suggestions I may have over looked. Here is what I am looking for in a space:

- One good sized room to act as a vendor hall. How good sized? At least enough room to hold 20 vendors or so, with a ten foot space for each. This could technically be outside, but weather is obviously a concern.

- Ideally 3 smaller rooms with chairs to act as panel rooms. Four would be the dream.

- One good sized room to act as a gaming hall. Ideally with tables of its own, as I only have so many tables I can provide.

- A place for a food truck or two to be parked close by.

I have not yet really found a spot that fits, that isn't trying to charge 5k plus. Or, if it's more affordable (like the Sanctury) it doesnt have any sort of smaller attached rooms good for panels. And Crampton Bowl is simply too large a space, unless you have hundreds inside it feels empty and folks don't stay. Honestly at this point the Alcazar temple is the best option price/space wise, but it could really only do two panels, and then only if it sacrificed that smaller side building to be panels instead of using it as a gaming space. Though I guess maybe investigating the viability of tents/panels there, if it wasn't a balls ass hot time of year could be an option?

Also, if you see this and you are some sort of nerdy vendor/expert/etc that would like to be involved in this, let me know. I'm gradually working up contact list for the day I push through with this.
