Where to start? Let's just go in order.
Who designed the fight so that you always start in front of Alatreon? I get wanting it to be cinematic the first time you fight him, but can every time after that please start at camp? I can't tell you how many times I carted in the first 10 seconds because I was trying to get my buff food on (seeds, drugs, etc) and got comboed because I wasn't paying attention to the incoming attacks. But the reason I'm so rushed and not paying attention is...
Because there's a 6 minute dps check where you not only have to do enough elemental damage to topple him but then break the horns. So from the second I drop in I'm on the clock and can't waste any time being careful. I'm a swax guy and can't lay on the elemental damage as well as DB, so every hit matters. Six minutes of constant dps wouldn't be so bad, but...
Alatreon's moves feel designed to keep you from being able to actually attack him. There's the circle of exploding fire that he likes to stand in the middle of so you can't get close enough to get any hits in. The lightning spam is constantly spacing you out (but I might have an idea about that). He's also a graduate of the Tigrex and Barrioth School of Dashing Across the Arena, only to do it again if you try and chase him down. And of course, there's his habit of flying around so that you can just barely tickle his ankles while spamming Death from Above.
It's a huge PITA of a fight with some ridiculous mechanics that don't really work well together. I'm sure I'll get him eventually, but OMG the rage is real.
