The average republicans has no idea how a monarchy works

I never realized this but the average anti-monarchist thinks the protocol is there just to annoy the monarch, that every monarch is spoiled and has 1001 freeloading family members in palaces and that the hierarchy is frivolous.
They don’t appreciate tradition or don’t feel any type of patriotism. They assume a state is just parliament, with a president that is hopefully trustable. No monarch needed to keep in check.
