a few questions for monarchists
Post Body

Hello, to preface this I am not a monarchist but I am very interested in the philosophy behind modern day monarchists. I don't ask these questions as some type of "gotcha" or insult so I apologize if it comes across as accusatory. Here are some questions I have:

Absolute monarchies/monarchies with actual power

  1. What do you feel justifies the power of the monarch?
  2. If you believe in the divine right of Kings how do you actually know God wanted them to rule and not that they just played their cards right?
  3. How should a monarch be held accountable for poor decisions that hurt the people?

Constitutional monarchies/ ceremonial monarchs

  1. Why should taxes pay for the luxuries of the royal family if they don't actually have much say in governance?

Restoring monarchies

  1. Why should a society bring back a monarchy if their current governments are chugging along fine without one?

Thank you in advance for your answers
