Spam filter for comments no longer sending removed comments to the modqueue?

So, I've got one of my subs set to screen all comments for manual approval. It usually bounced every single comment to the modqueue, making it easy to sort out spam and approve real comments. Lately, the comments are marked [removed] but no longer show up in the modqueue for manual approval.
Was this a change of something behind the scenes, or is it a glitch? Halp, pretty please?
FWIW, posts are still being sent to the queue as they normally had, no issues there.
