How are people commenting on long removed posts?

Post Body

I've noticed, through the moderation log, that people are replying to old posts removed by either automod or a live mod. This happens long after (day to weeks to months later) the post is removed. I have automod set up with ungodly requirements to reply to posts now and these comments are auto removed anyways. I also now autolock new posts to stop commenting so it's not an issue. Mostly, I'm just curious how they are able to see these posts and reply to them.

edit: actually, I've just noticed that some newer auto removed posts are still getting comments on them. How are people seeing removed posts?
