I'm sitting with my son, watching Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. (For those unfamiliar, Daniel Tiger is based on Mister Rogers Neighborhood... the main character is the stuffed tiger in that show.) This episode on choosing and voting comes on and it reminds me about how we teach toddlers these things.
One interesting thing is an emphasis for those on the losing end of a vote finding something good about the choice others chose.
I thought this was super wholesome and tbh, I'm not feeling super wholesome about politics right now. So I thought I'd give it a try.
For me, the last significant vote I was on the losing end of was the 2016 presidential. I've thought about it a bit and it was harder than i thought it would be without it becoming a backhanded compliment, but... I think it's good thing that many Americans who felt voiceless feel like he gives them a voice in our democracy. Everyone deserves to feel heard in our democracy.
How about you.... what vote was it and what's the good?
