So I bought a train at a meet

So I bought myself a nice a little N-scale Dapol Papyrus engine. Only thing is, I literally just got into this hobby. Not the smartest move I know, but it called to me. So now, I have a beautiful engine, but no tracks or a transformer.
So my question is can I get any DC controller (like from a Bachmann set) and use it with this British model? Same scale and all that, but different make.
