Hi everyone,

I've been studying for weeks, and I'm moving on to my third set ever to apply new brushing techniques, mixing paints & applying decals techniques.

I decided that I also want to apply a wash on these three planes (besides some chipping using metallic paint). I'm going to use acrylic paint, and apply clear coats (gloss before decals, matt after), but I still wonder the best way to apply the "old" effect as well as creating that "shadow effect". I saw the reference painting youtube video that uses a combination of both brown a black paints diluted in something, but I'm looking for something a little more specific so I can be on the safe side.

Also, I can't find Windsor & Newton Lamp Black mentioned in the Wiki, which is odd, so looking for alternatives.

What combinations of colours should I use? Does this work & is it a good deal?

And this has a thinner?

But more importantly, how do you choose the colours? Why black brown as in the guide?

Thank you.
