A voice-over in a regal Coruscanti accent starts
"Carlac, a small planet in the New Territories,"
"Largely ignored by the galaxy, it was settled thousands of years ago by Mirialan and Human colonists, as a refuge from economic strife, over the generations, their descendants would become known as the Ming Po.
"Life on the planet is simple and traditional, while droids may aid in some tasks, and modern speeders may be used sometimes, the Ming Po maintain the traditions of centuries ago."
The Camera points at a man in a yellow robe who starts speaking. "Technology is wonderful, but it may not always be available, we keep the old ways so that we can always survive."
"Their primary tradition, the harvesting of Yingtao sprouts, along the boarder of the large coldwater ponds, Yingtao trees grow with their roots connecting under the water, before growing up as sprouts, once they get around eight inches, they will start to harden into what would become another Yingtao tree, so at six inches they are cut off and harvested.
"Master Yeitjer cuts out the thin yellow cores, the green shells will be dried to make a tasty snack, and the yellow cores, will be ground down, before being added to water filtered from a local lake, some herbs and spices, and then barrelling.
"In a month some of the barrels will be cracked open, and the now sludgy water, mixed with some flour, and turned into healthy and highly nutritious buns, breads, noodles, and even cakes!
"Some of them however, will be left to ferment for a few years, before the barrel is opened and the now solidified mass is removed, and then crushed into power. More water is mixed in, and they're baked typically into dumplings,"
"These dumplings however, are alcoholic, having the same effect as a single shot of whisky, while many are eaten by the locals, many also find themselves exported to the wider galaxy, as one of the planet's limited exports"
"But tradition must learn to live, with progress."
The voice changes to that of one of the locals "The dams will help us have reliable power in the long term, and prevent floods that will wipe out our crops, yes, there are many new industrial farms being build in the Lako Valley, but they are owned by us, at least the majority, and will help give us a stable income and improve our quality of life."
The Voice changes again to and woman's voice. "Our small communities are what make us Ming Po, if there are too many people moving here, to much is built and what are we? Just another place. We do not wish to be a miniature Coruscant, or just another Taris or a see our lands turned into factories like Metalorne."
The voice changes again to that of a man "Some people, they are afraid of change, so they hold on too tight to tradition, so tight, they forget why the tradition exists. Then there are those who let go of tradition, they change to much, and they forget why tradition exists. There must be balance, like Ming, and Po, balanced in harmony, progress and tradition need not be in conflict. So, I say, those who move here most adopt our traditions, our values, otherwise, they will crowd out and drown out the Ming Po, but should they accept our traditions, values, and work in harmony with us, then they may come, no matter who they are."
The Original voice over takes back over. "The planet of Carlac has seen its fair share of trouble, from Mandalorian raiders, ravaging during the Nihil conflict, and pirate attacks and attempts to use the system as a base. Despite the Ming Po people stand tall, and now, with the FSF taking notice and helping coordinate investment from groups in the Corporate Sector, the Cato Neimoidian Trade Investment group and others, working through Project New Frontiers, it seems as if the space around Carlac has been made safe, and future prosperity will come the region."
