I am ashamed to say that I have rarely used an iPhone in favour of Android therefore I am not to clued up on the Icloud lock feature. Could someone please explain how it works with regards to restoring a device? My neighbour has asked me to look at her iPhone 6S which wouldn't power on & stay on so I did a restore which looks to have resolved the problem. However, the screen needs replacing I cant go through the set up as of yet.
Does the Icloud lock only get activated if the phones owner marks the phone as lost? If my neighbour cannot remember her Apple ID & password will I still be able to set up a new account on the phone? What I am worried about is whether the Icloud lock will be activated automatically & I wont be able to remove it if my neighbour as forgotten her Apple ID & password. I don't really want to buy a replacement screen for her if this is the case.
I'm guessing if I've managed to restore it then the activation lock cannot have been enabled?
