Has anyone bought a Rakuten WiFi Pocket 2c? How do you get a SIM card for it?

I bought a Rakuten Wifi Pocket 2c from Japan so that I can bring it on my trip in a couple of months. I opted to buy instead of rent or do a eSIM card for my own reasons. When I got the pocket WiFi in the mail it didn’t occur to me that I needed a SIM card for it and now I’m trying to figure out how to get one. I see Amazon has prepaid Rakuten SIM cards but they all say they’re perfect for phones but no one has commented on using them in a pocket WiFi. Does anyone have any experience with buying a SIM card for the a pocket WiFi?
