In a number of "Most Annoying Fan" polls the Yankess and Red Sox are often 1 and 2 (certainly both in the top 3). I understand the annoyance with the Yankees; deep pockets, history of winning, fans expectation of winning, their logo being a fashion symbol etc, the evil empire if you will
But wondered were the Red Sox so high because:
There are a lot of Yankee fans and they'll vote them number 1
When they started winning the underdog became the winner, and the attitudes changed.
Drunk, arrogant college boys, with a reputation of racism
Some other reason?
I'm from Australia so don't interact with fans day to day, or in the ballpark, so ignore the ignorance.
Oldest and greatest rivalry in sports history, of course we’re gonna be at the top. I would imagine because of that and the number of Yankee fans. Probably the fact that the early 2000s sports world was owned by Boston all around. Finally winning in baseball after the curse then add in all the other titles, yea, it’s title town. Who wouldn’t hate the person/people that was complaining the most, but is now winning and won’t shut up about it. Got tired of getting shit on and now we/they wanna give some trash talk back, payback.
My opinion is that it would be a combination of all these. Not just one singular thing.
What do you mean by NE accent? Because Boston/MA have a different accent than RI. I’m gonna say no seeing as no one has have said anything about an accent since I’ve moved to TX
I don’t even say it 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t know anyone that does so idk. Not even my cousins from RI or even MA really say it.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a fan who was not a native of Boston say “wicked”, but ok lol

Very possible. They might work in Boston often too and pick up phrases, who knows. I know that as a native of New England (CT) I never heard it outside of the greater Boston area, apart from any Aussie’s that is 😂
