It’s been a full year since I went to go see a certain Angels game. My intention was only to see Trout play, as I moved out of OC just two weeks later and wanted to scratch seeing it off my bucket list. And while his two homers certainly lived up to the hype… I did not expect to be treated to Reid Detmers throwing a no-hitter.
Sadly, I didn’t save my ticket stub, but I did take a few pictures for verification. The first is from I believe the third inning (Trout is on first and Ohtani is at-bat), while the second is from the fifth inning, where I snuck in to get a closer picture of Trout and immediately got caught by the seat usher (cut me some slack, it was super windy in the nosebleeds and I was wearing gym shorts). I also have one of the Ohtani bobble heads they were handing out for his MVP ceremony.
I’m still kind of on Cloud 9 from that day, and a lot of crap has happened to me since, but I’ll always treasure this as easily the best baseball game I’ve ever been to. Can’t wait for the first no-hitter of this season, whoever may throw it.
