Hello all, I have an issue that I can’t seem to figure out with a google search or on my own. I have a hip-hop/trap track that I’ve checked all the boxes with. Left plenty of dynamics in the mix, made sure there was no clipping, and left plenty of headroom (-3db) for the master. In the mastering process, I had a plugin chain of surgical eq, compression, more eq, more compression, some maximizing, and some parallel exciting. I did plenty of metering to watch my peaks and monitor my average LUFS level and loudness. LUFS sits around -9 for the song and TP is at around -0.7. Bounced it as a 16 bit AIFF with dithering.
At fullish volume, im balancing my track with the references in loudness. The problem is, when playing it back across multiple formats, it becomes noticeably quieter than other tracks on Spotify, Soundcloud, etc. as I turn the volume down lower and lower. Like at half volume, I’ll be able to hear the full dynamics of another song much louder than my own. I’m not sure what’s the cause of this and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what it could possibly be and how to fix it? Thanks.
