Enhance Pick Attack of Distorted Guitars

I’m no expert. However, I’m mixing some material for a small metal outfit. Is there a way to really make pick attack pop in the mix? We have some references of what we’re after, but can’t quite figure out how to get there. Have tried various compressor/expander and compander settings with little luck. Or, should we scrap the tracks we have and redo the signal chain?
