I am mixed (mother is black, father is white) and, as Iā€™ve learned recently, autistic.

The social faults that come with autism definitely affect how accepted Iā€™ve been in the black community. Given that iā€™m very light-skinned, to the point of most people assuming iā€™m white (or hispanic? Probably just because I grew up in a majority latino neighborhood and understand spanish pretty well- but I donā€™t know.) I already have an appearance-based disadvantage to my ā€œvalidityā€ in the black community. But, on top of that, not ā€œsoundingā€ or ā€œactingā€ black enough has made me end up feeling entirely unwelcome to half of my identity.

Any other autistic/neurodivergent mixed race people experience this?
