Thanks Fetimo for the the absolutely Stellar Mix :)
Post Body

I got a mix in the post from Fetimo. I absolutely loved it, it was well thought out, expertly mixed and had a great continuous atmosphere throughout. More importantly, there wasn't a bad track on there...

Fetimo (for the most part) arranged the Mix into couplets of songs that compliment each other. I've given links to the songs where they are available on youtube.

Put the CD Down - Technicolour Gibberish :: 'This CD is for people who want scream, but cant - because the reason they're angry is that they don't have a head'. Then a wonderful burst of noise. Weird Shit - cool opener.

Couplet 1: The Journey Begins...
The Search - Nitin Sawhney :: An astonishingly beautiful piece of Asian flavour in the vein of Talvin Singh. Drum and Bass meets Tablas, Sitars and stunning Vocals - right up my street.
Appa - Badmarsh & Shri :: A bit more traditional now, just sitar and strings. Very Trees-friendly. I really like it.

Couplet 2: Let's Get this Party Started...
Fermingarfræðsla - Hermigervill :: So cool it hurts. Sociable, funky trip-hop. Very reminiscent of Nightmares on Wax, who I love. Great, getting ready to go out music as it makes me feel like a boss.
You Are We - Crazy Penis :: Award for best band name in the world goes to.l.. Funky House, nice keys and vox samples and a great guitar line later on. Not usually my sort of thing but I got right into it.

Couplet 3: Sunglasses at Night...
Your Girl - Blue States :: Another trip-hoppy one, but a littler more dense and stylish. Such a catchy vocal line. Pretty Damn Cool.
Sunshine - Submotion Orchestra :: Fucking Brilliant, one of the best tracks on here. Achingly cool, acid-jazzy, triph-soul-hop with dubby elements. Will definately check out some more of these guys' stuff. Just listen to it now with headphones on. I'm so chilled out...

Couplet 4: Transitions...
On hearing the first Cuckoo of Spring - Delius :: Wonderful. A heartbreakingly good example of classical music. Gives me hope that I'll make it through the winter. It's snowy as hell outside as I write this but I can almost see it melting while I listen. Very evocative. To me it sort of felt like this track signified a transition into a new suite of the Mix. That may have been just because it's right in the middle.
Married Life - Michael Giacchino :: I haven't actually seen 'Up' but even so, this was one of my favourite tracks on the Mix. Great use of instruments to create different moods/vignettes. Great stuff.

Couplet 5: Down the rabbit hole...
L'histoire D'un - Hku(couldn't read Fetimo's handwriting here so that artist name is probably wrong. If you see this Fetimo please correct me!) :: Very ominous in contrast to the previous track. Droney synths, trippy drum breaks, sprinkled piano and just choppy enough to keep you on edge. All builds up to a very cinematic atmosphere. Again sounds film scorey, but I have no idea if it is.
Whirling Round - Kinobe :: My favourite track on the whole CD, so much fun. Samples of woman reading what sounds like a children's book - nonsense lyrics set over jaunty house beats. Could listen to it all day, and I have been.

Couplet 6: The Ascenscion...
Hinterlude #1 (king Seven Remix) - Hint :: Lovely. Spacey, chilled out bliss. Definately music for in the bath. Stacks of reverb, breathy vocals and plinky-plonk piano.
Why I'm so Unhappy - Dntel :: I love the guitar in this one, and the way the synths/strings float on top to bring it back to a more accessible harmonic centre. Sort of sounds like a spookier, more musically mature Sia/Zero 7. I can hear the crackle from the Vinyl that this was ripped from, which I absolutely love.

Couplet 7: Are you trying to seduce me Fetimo?
Inside my Love - Minnie Ripperton :: This is the only song from the Mix that I already new. A stone-cold classic. What a vocal on this track. I love everything about this song. This should be in the national curriculum - but I think that there's a law against exposing minors to something this sexy. I'll be in my bunk.
Willows Song - Magnet :: Great song. This is the reason hippies have more sex than you. I was already naked from the previous song so I did a mating dance around my living room while, pretending to seduce Edward Woodward.

Another nice mix - Listen with Sarah :: Ends the CD the way it started, with a nice chunk of brain-melting noise. Very Cool.

All in all a fantastic mix, I've had it on repeat since I got it and I throw it on whenever I have people over - it never fails to be a talking point ('hey, that was cool, what was that song?' 'well...')

Cheers Fetimo. Here's to next round :)
