I've seen it pointed out here how TikTok is driving the popularity of certain Mitski songs. Nobody somewhat recently reached 100m listens on Spotify and Washing Machine Heart will be there somewhat soon as well. I was wondering if there was some better way of tracking her growth?

I decided one way would be to check out her monthly listeners on Spotify compared to those of other artists, especially other indie artists. These are artists that I thought it would be interesting to compare her to, for various reasons. Numbers are rounded.

Mitski 6.8m monthly listeners Phoebe Bridgers 4.7m Beach House 5.3m Arcade Fire 3.8m Radiohead 12.6m (355th in the world)

I found that most big indie acts have around 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with only the very biggest exceeding that.

Guys, Mitski's really big right now.
