Just a reminder: Mitski's the one who makes the music. She doesn't need you, and she is not indebted to you simply for existing as a celebrity. High expectations placed on others is often the death of true empathy. She is not required to speak out on any issues you yourself might find important. If she says something you don't agree with and you suddenly go from liking her to hating her, then maybe you should just tune out and find someone who will parrot all the "right" ideas that you agree with. Mitski is not a politician (which is a good thing; politicians are horrible people). She chose to make music for us to enjoy, and she could choose to stop if she wanted to.

Ask yourself. Who am I? Who is Mitski? Why should I feel the need to tell Mitski what to do? Who do I think I am, and why do I think that's my place?

Some people might not like hearing this, but I feel the need to come to her defense before things get bad.
