Do you think this was a sign of misophonia?
In pre-k/kindergarten, we had to all sit down in the morning and eventually count a number chart that went up to 100. And my teacher counted insanely slow, which makes sense but it always frustrated me and I wouldn’t be able to focus. I would always speed count to 100 and just remember being upset that it took so long every single day.
Though I’m not sure if this was a sign of my future misophonia, or just lack of patience.
Though my next earliest potential sign was in the second grade. My teacher would read out loud, but she would read really slow and I could read a lot faster than she was reading out loud, so I wouldn’t be able to focus/follow along because of how slow she went. I remember always plugging my ears, reading at my own pace, and then just flipping my page when my class flipped theirs. Though one day, I remember getting extremely irritated while my teacher was reading, so I plugged my ears, but that wasn’t working, so I started lightly humming, but it still wasn’t blocking her out, my humming eventually grew out of hand unintentionally and I realized my entire class was starring at me, dead silent. Not even sure how I answered to that.
What do you think? I know my misophonia didn’t really blossom until about seventh grade, as in that’s when I was first annoyed by the sound of someone chewing, though it didn’t get serious until my freshman year of high school.
I’m just curious as to if those have anything to do with my misophonia, I know one thing that made my mom struggle with accepting my misophonia years ago was how it seemed to start abruptly, as if I was just a moody teenager and was just making things up, but who knows! Maybe there were signs and my year or two of fighting with my mom could’ve been very much avoided.
